The Ifrit in the Bookstore...

My goal for 2007: Read 100 books in 365 days. What better way to help you achieve it than to make a personal goal public. Try telling people you're going to quit smoking and then see if they don't mention it every time you light one up. (Refrain from putting it out in their eye.)

This year, my goal was to attend every movie that plays at the Music Hall. I have so far been successful, with 71 movies under my belt, and only four more to go. (Upcoming Blog: "Seven Years in My Seat: A Year of Movies.") 71 movies doesn't sound like a lot when you first hear it, but these are Music Hall movies, i.e. art films, most of them. If they weren't three hours long, which a lot of them were, they were still almost all subtitled.

So this is my hi to every one and no one. I created this site to talk about my favorite books, map my progress with the 100 books goal, and post quotes and pictures. As the bastard child of Dorothy Parker and Charles Bukowski, I'm suited for the job.-The Book Kitten

P.S. Ifrit: Ifrits in common mythology are jinn spirits that embody fire. They consider themselves superior to all races because they supposedly "came first," and they resent deeply that humans have found magical ways to take control over them. Even when tasked, they show an ironic and malicious attitude, tending to subvert their masters' orders every time they can. They often appear as individuals of superhuman beauty and strength, but are very difficult to deal with.(Thanks, Signifigant Dave.)
